Transition day

Heading

Wow. I can’t believe that the week has gone. Today we transitioned from pastor Richard and FUDESA to Carlos and Pro Infancia.

After a farewell breakfast Elaine and I headed to the clinic to help keep the flow of patients going. It was a brief but fun 45 minutes, and an opportunity to pray for the patients, their physical emotional and spiritual well being.

For those who didn’t have the chance to meet Carlos in Chilliwack last summer he is an exuberant passionate man who loves his community and is a wonderful host.

We headed out on the highway to visit a Days For Girls workshop in Los Alcarithos. We spent time working with the seamstresses while the gents painted a neighbors home to keep good relations with the sewing centre. They currently assemble over a thousand kits a month, 1,400 this month, but plan to scale up to 2,000 kits per month as they move into their new space. The aim is to 1) keep girls in school, 2) lower teen pregnancy numbers 3) teach girls about their value in the eyes of God.

A delicious lunch and we were back on the road for another DFG presentation. It. was. Chaos. The presentation was well done, engaging and informative, these young girls were very interactive. The boys however…. They were typical of their age, playing loud games, spying in the windows, laughing at the girls and distracting. Happily the girls seemed impervious to their efforts and focused on the training.

Down the road now to another community where we will sleep and then engage in our final full day of ministry.
