Simple Acts of Kindness Ministry (SAK) was started in 2013 by our partner Tilahun Getnet. Tilahun was forced to leave his home in the countryside at a very early age to live on the streets of Addis in order to survive. After living homeless for several years, he received the opportunity to attend school through a sponsor in Canada. After graduating from high school, he started the ministry entirely based on volunteers and carried out the purpose of Matthew 5:16 ("Let your light so shine before others..."). SAK's vision is to show God's love through simple acts of kindness, where no child goes hungry and is forced to live on the street, and no child should be excluded, forgotten, or ignored. It is their Christian faith that motivates SAK volunteers to work towards that vision.
Tilahun and his volunteers work with street children to ensure they have people who think and care about them so they will not feel alone and can be as healthy, emotionally well, safe, and economically independent as possible.
