Backpacks and Shoes

This morning, our team returned to Yogo village with a joyful mission: to treat 12 sponsored students with a special outing. We guided the children to the bustling local market, where they each selected new school shoes and a backpack. The marketplace was alive with vibrant sights and sounds—stalls filled with household supplies, clothing, fresh food, and hardware.
The children’s faces glowed with joy as they tried on their new shoes, each pair a symbol of hope and opportunity. While they shopped, Dick and Jason dashed across the street to pick up a surprise: ice cream for everyone, including the team. The kids’ delight over this rare treat was infectious, their smiles wide and hearts full.
After the market, we returned to the hotel, packed up, and prepared for our journey to Kisumu. Reflecting on our time here, we’re profoundly moved by the impact Bishop Silas’s ministry has had on the community in Siaya County. The day has been a beautiful reminder of how small gestures can bring immense happiness and how meaningful connections can leave lasting impressions.
In the afternoon we left Siaya behind and went to Kisumu where we made a quick stop at Kit Mikay which is an amazing formation of rocks stacked on top of each other.
The evening ended with a fantastic dinner together with new friends and Najel returning to share his incredible story with us!
