The sun rose over the sugar cane fields as we embarked on a journey to the community of Vasca. The road was rough and bumpy, yet the anticipation of the day ahead kept our spirits high. Upon arrival, the team quickly transformed the newly constructed community center into a vibrant clinic. It was inspiring to see everyone take their place seamlessly—triage began, patients were welcomed, and the pharmacy and doctors worked diligently to prepare.

The day unfolded beautifully, marked by a sense of purpose and unity. We treated 97 patients, a testament to the dedication and efficiency of the team. Familiar faces brought warmth and encouragement as many patients were recognized from previous visits. Witnessing the ongoing efforts of Proinfancia, along with the tireless work of Dr. Martha and Anna, reinforced the profound impact of their commitment to this community.

Serving alongside the Dominican medical team was a privilege. Their compassion and expertise shone through as they addressed the diverse needs of the people. Today was more than just a day of medical care—it was a testament to resilience, collaboration, and hope.

As we packed up and prepared to leave, a deep sense of gratitude lingered. The work in Vasca is far from over, but today reminded us all of the power of showing up, working together, and striving to make a difference.
