Heading
We woke up to a hot bright Sunday morning, and after eating breakfast and having devotions, headed up to Mbulubuzi for church. This is one of the Child care centres run by Timotheos where they have the foster home, a school and their own church. We ended up driving down the bumpy dirt road after debating if we could make it or not. Church services in Malawi consist of: the kids singing, then a short catechism sermon, more singing, a sermon on a text and then collections and a benediction. We only got to the more singing part when literally, the sky opened and it poured. On a tin roof, it was LOUD! Reaching 95 decibels according to Derek’s smart watch. There were multiple leaks in the roof so we got dripped on. When the rain let off a bit, us Canadians were called up to sing a few hymns, which the kids sang along to Seek Ye First, the alleluia part. Then the pastor only preached a few words on Joshua 1:1-11, before the rain was again 95 decibels loud. The road was pretty bad going out, basically a muddy creek ruining down washed up boulders. Lunch was served at the Oomens house, hot soup was appreciated after getting wet and cold! Then the sun came out again and we spent the rest of the afternoon chatting, napping, having a big water balloon fight (with most of us getting soaked), playing games and singing hymns around the piano. Then yet another rain shower and thunderstorm to watch. A day of enjoying and appreciating God’s beautiful creation and tomorrow will be a busy one!
