A Day of Service, Celebration and Community in Guatemala

On our last day in Guatemala, we experienced a beautiful mix of hard work and heartwarming moments. Our day began at Gracia de Dios church building site in Chivoc, where we spent the morning demolishing walls, excavating around the church, mixing and moving concrete, bending rebar, and constructing exterior walls. Though the physical work was demanding, it felt incredibly rewarding knowing that our efforts would contribute to a place where people would gather in faith for years to come.

In the afternoon, we shifted gears to spend time with about 90 local children. We played games, did crafts, and sang songs about Jesus. One of the highlights was when we acted out the story from Luke 10, where Jesus takes five loaves and two fish and miraculously turns them into cookies and juice for all the children. It was a fun and creative twist on the story, and it was amazing to see the kids' excitement and joy as they learned and interacted with us.

The evening brought a special celebration at the church. We had the privilege of honoring Pastor Marco on his 80th birthday and witnessing the ordination of Pastor Victor. It was a moment of deep significance for the church and the community. Cochrane Alliance and Hungry for Life were also honoured and celebrated for 15 years of fruitful, faithful partnership. After the service, we were treated to a delicious banquet and enjoyed local folk music. It was the perfect way to end our time in Guatemala—filled with service, celebration, and a sense of unity that we will carry with us always.

Now, we are signing off so that we can finish packing and be up at 2am to load the bus. Thank you for praying for us through this amazing journey.
