Today was a truly wonderful day. We started bright and early with breakfast and preparations for our first session of leadership training. We were joined by 41 participants who received our message with great enthusiasm and were deeply impressed by the Ending Violence Education (E.V.E.) program.
During the session, the group brainstormed and identified the top three causes of violence in their communities: poor communication, poverty, and addictions. This is the E.V.E. team's fourth mission to Uganda, and they’ve done an outstanding job helping establish local groups that meet regularly. Today’s session only added to the successes they’ve already achieved here.
One of the things I love most about working in Africa is the energy and joy the people bring to our training sessions. It’s inspiring to see how engaged and hopeful they are. The session ended with heartfelt words of thanks and gratitude, which was so uplifting. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that our workshops are received so positively, and that participants leave feeling empowered and energized to make real change in their communities.
I’m also excited to be stepping into a leadership role with the E.V.E. team for the first time. While it certainly comes with its challenges, the rewards have proven to be far greater. Leading this group and being part of such meaningful work has been an incredibly fulfilling experience, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute in this new capacity.
After a quick rest, Michael took the team to visit the mouth of the Nile River—a truly breathtaking sight. We ended the day with a delicious dinner at a local Indian restaurant. The food was amazing, and the company even better. It was the perfect way to close out a meaningful and fulfilling day.
