Today we woke to a thunderstorm at Kalangala on Ssesse Island. The thunderstorm was powerful, although we felt safe it made us think of those Ugandans without proper shelter.
The island is lush with wildlife, palm trees and native vegetation. What a beautiful place.
On our schedule today was leadership training. With every leadership session we grow as a team and within ourselves. The journey of sharing and self discovery with each other and our leadership members is filled with gratitude, love and learning.
Pastor Micheal was spoken of highly from the attendants for all he has done in this community. He has emotionally strong and impressive members that carry Gods message.
A lively, respectful discussion was had by all who attended. EVE team member Paul proudly introduced his parents James and Janet. And Samuel spoke about his passion for human rights. The topics of concern for the Kalangala leaders were: poverty, drugs/alcohol and unfaithfulness/ poor communication. The leaders spent time listening, communicating and understanding each other’s ideas. The respect and thoughtfulness shown to each other shows a high level of commitment to the EVE message.
“It takes a village to raise a child and a community to make change”
This experience has forever changed me, and I’m thankful for being able to witness the collaboration of this wonderful community.
We ended the evening with a fantastic dinner with all of Pastor Michael’s team. A perfect way to end our day.
