Heading
Really?? we're already half-way through our time at camp?!?
Today marked was the mid-way point of our time at Camp Canaan which drew a lot of early reflections of the relationships built in a few short days with the kids. Looking ahead, Thursday is the final full day of camp with the plans for everyone to leave Friday morning. With that said, today was filled with more chances to learn Spanish, connect and build relationships.
Following breakfast, we headed to plenary where our familiarity with the songs has continued to grow and many kids and leaders jumped on stage to be part of leading the actions. At the end of plenary, we celebrated Sarah's birthday with the singing of Happy Birthday in Spanish.
Today's plan was to have some outdoor games and pool time before lunch. However, it rained so we moved the games indoors and unfortunately didn't get pool time today. After a few rounds of British Bulldog led by Jacob and Sophie we moved into a basketball match between Kaleo students and Camp Canaan leaders - the kids LOVED it!
Following lunch, we ran some crafts in the multipurpose room - paper airplane contest and paper bag puppets followed by an indoor soccer tournament (it was raining again outside so we had to pivot).
After a little bit of rest time, we had dinner followed by a bonfire. This was supposed to be outside however because it rained so much today, they moved it inside. At the bonfire, the camp speaker shared another message and included an invitation for kids to choose to follow Jesus. Many raised their hands to publicly make that choice and we were able to surround them as the pastor prayed with them. So special! What a great way to finish the day with the kids.
Coming downstairs to our lounge area, we debriefed and then the team realized that Kaleo birthday bumps needed to happen - Sarah had her turn first and they wouldn't let Jacob go to bed without getting his birthday bumps.
Thank you for following the blogs and praying for us. There is some mild sickness and definitely tiredness hitting the team - please pray for healing and protection as we wrap up our time at camp.
