A Day of Hope and Joy

Bringing Hope to the Women's Rehab Centre:

Today, our journey in Mexico was imbued with powerful themes of hope and joy, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts. Our first stop was at The Women's Rehab Centre, where we embraced the spirit of giving and companionship.

Earlier in the morning and together with the team, we prepared a hearty meal of spaghetti and meatballs, a simple yet profound gesture of care and support.

One of the highlights of our visit was an engaging workshop where Eliza introduced the concept of a prayer journal. This activity opened a floodgate of emotions. As the women started to pen down their thoughts, they shared stories of praise, answered prayers, and even deep-seated challenges. It was a moment of vulnerability and strength, marked by tears and heartfelt sharing. This experience underscored the essence of hope, reminding us that even in the face of challenges, there's always encouragement to be found in conversation with the Lord.

Joy and Laughter with the Children:

Simultaneously, another part of our team, including our enthusiastic volunteers Kolton, Beni, Mihai, and Alice, brought the timeless tale of the Prodigal Son to life for the children. Their spirited performance, interspersed with (heroic) attempts at speaking Spanish, resonated with the kids, filling the room with peals of laughter and wide-eyed wonder. It was a beautiful reminder of the universal language of storytelling and the joy that a story from the Word of God can bring.

Celebrating Lidia's Birthday with Song and Surprise:

The evening brought a different kind of celebration, one filled with joy and surprises. As we gathered in the dining hall after a delicious dinner, the atmosphere shifted to one of anticipation and excitement. The doors of the kitchen swung open, and the melodious strains of "Las Mañanitas," the traditional Mexican birthday song, filled the air.

The girls from the compound led the procession, their voices strong and joyful, as they carried a ginormous cake towards Lidia. The look of bashful delight on Lidia's face was a sight to behold.
