Despite the continuing drought in the region, and because of the investment in irrigation, the Seje Community garden continues to produce vegetables. The garden has been invaded by wild dogs, hippos have ranged around the edges and the seasonal flooding of the Yala have all hampered progress, but the project continues to grow and produce.
Some fencing had to be repaired this year, and Farm Manager Sam has moved on to a new job; Pastor Bonn is now managing the project with the help of the women of the community.
Now that the irrigation is up and running the team is planning to grow the vegetables in the 'off season' when there is more demand and the returns on investment will be greater.
