We started the day off with breakfast, one hour later than normal, at 9:00am. Breakfast was oatmeal cakes and omelets for the gluten and dairy-free team members. Shortly after breakfast we got ready for church which was a short walk down the road from the compound. They had several lead singers witch where led by an electric piano and an electric set of drums and a projector above to show the words in Spanish. There was much greeting and hugging as people came into church and seen each other. Pastor Richards started with prayer and then preached on John 11 explaining each verse as he went about how Jesus was the great example, and how he delayed in the healing of Lazarus for the greater honor and glory of God. There were several more songs sung, and some more announcements about a couple getting married to which the whole congregation clapped. The church was dismissed and we headed back for lunch which consisted of rice, beans, eggplant, and chicken. After lunch, we had from about one clock until 5 o'clock. For our own time to nap and read. At five o'clock, we where scheduled to do food distributions to the less fortunate people in the community, people who didn't have jobs, or had injuries and couldn't work, thus making them very poor. It was quite a humbling experience seeing the poverty some people are living in and yet it’s very seldom you don’t see a smile on their faces. Supper was shortly after six. It consisted of a fantastic meal of tacos for supper. After supper we concluded the evening with listening to a topic on Ruth from Rev. Witvoet in our rooms, and that finished off the Sunday.
