A blessed day in Mpiji: From church to Rehabilitation Center

Today began with a simple yet profound blessing: the chance to sleep in and enjoy a quiet morning. The stillness was a gentle reminder to appreciate the calm moments that prepare us for the day ahead. Heather took on the adventure of brewing coffee using a distinctive gas burner, turning the task into a delightful challenge.

Our morning message from Gillian, sparked deep reflection: How does education empower us? How do we make our lessons inclusive?
Information is power. With education we can grow and change. It opens minds, breaks barriers, and fosters understanding. But its true power lies in its inclusivity—when every child, regardless of their background, feels seen, heard, and valued.

After breakfast, we attended Peace Portal church where the energy was infectious. The various choirs sang with all their hearts, filling the space with joy and reverence.
Pastor Michael’s sermon was rooted in Genesis 15:1: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” His words reminded us of the Lord’s unwavering protection and blessings.

Following the service, we shared a delicious lunch at Pastor Michael’s home, where the warmth of fellowship added flavor to every bite.

The afternoon took us to the youth Rehabilitation center, where we met 218 young souls—210 boys and 8 girls from all over Africa, ranging in age up to 18.
We spoke about choices, mistakes, and dreams. The children engaged with openness and curiosity, reminding us of the resilience and potential within each of them. Their questions, reflections, and dreams will stay with me long after we leave.

The evening was quieter, offering time to unwind with tea on the porch. The serenity allowed me to gather my thoughts and prepare for tomorrow’s adventures at the Heritage School.

As the day came to a close, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. From the meaningful conversations to the shared meals and heartfelt worship, every moment was a reminder of the blessings that surround us.

Weebale—thank you
