Active Volcano

Heading

This morning our group had a sleep in and woke up for breakfast at 8 after two crazy travel days. After that we headed off to a volcano for a hike. We didn't go to the very top of the volcano (it was Volcan de Pacaya), but the path was still quite steep and there were lots of people horse-riding up the trail. Before heading back down, our guide showed us something super cool - how to roast marshmallows from the heat in between the rocks (yes, it's still an active volcano). Despite the hot sun, it was a beautiful day for a hike and we had a great time.

After the hike we we had a choice between Subway and Taco Bell for a late lunch before heading back to the guest house. The rest of the day was spent showering (we were all very sweaty and dirty), eating a delicious supper, hanging out, playing games, and a bit of homework. It was really good to spend time in community and grow together as a team.

As we are continually learning about Guatemalan culture, we can't wait to put our knowledge to use and start serving. The coming week we are going to be working at Camp Canaan and are so excited for what God is going to do through us.
