Located in the southeast of Peru, 850 km from the capital of Lima, Cusco is a city with a population of 300,000 people. It sits at an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level in the Andes mountain range. Due to socio-economic, linguistic and cultural factors, the illiteracy rate among the Quechua speaking population of Cusco is very high. ATEK has developed a literacy program in response to this great need and the urgency to solve the problem. Our goal is to help ATEK in the construction of the Center for Operations and Training and to meet the immediate needs of the surrounding villages.
