Katrina Disaster Relief
Located on
the gulf coast, this small town is 320 km south of Jackson, Mississippi.
On August 29, 2005, the worst natural disaster in US history hit the gulf
coast. The city of New Orleans as well as
the states of Mississippi and Alabama were devastated
by the 175 mile/hour (280 km/hour) winds and a 30 foot wall of water that beat
against the coast line. 1.2 million people were evacuated from their homes. To
date, 1,417 people have been confirmed dead and there are still hundreds of
people unaccounted for. Our goal is to assist those who suffered from Hurricane
Katrina by transporting emergency supplies and providing groups of skilled
labourers (electrical, plumbing, framing, dry walling, etc.) to help the people
of Waveland rebuild their lives, homes and businesses.
