Clean Water in Zambia
May 15, 2006
Zambian children will often walk 2-4 miles daily to find water; these sources of water often contain all kinds of diseases that impact their health condition and average life expectancy. Upon hearing of the great need for clean water, Brandon & Rachel Penkoff, who were married in Lynden, Washington in July 2005, wanted to help in a practical way. Instead of having wedding gifts for themselves, they asked their guests to donate money towards drilling a water well in the small village of Kasanta, Zambia.
Hungry For Life, through its partners in Zambia, was able to facilitate this project for the Penkoffs and their wedding guests. The water well was recently drilled, providing the community of Kasanta with its first source of clean water—something we in North America often take for granted every day! Thank you to all who gave to make this act of love possible.
